After a great Festival Time in Munich and Salzburg Ivor Bolton will now open the season with his orchestra in Basel:

With his Eighth Symphony, the last he completed, the Bruckner-Cycle of the Sinfonieorchester Basel is now drawing to a close. It embodies the composer’s work with all of its complexities and contradictions. And Bruckner was correct: the Eighth Symphony has proven a mystery.
This time Bruckner will be accompagnied by Bruno Maderna’s arrangement of Giovanni Gabrieli’s In ecclesiis, whose aim was to present the originals of old masteres in the new light of modern orchestral sounds.
