Only the Sound Remains

Ivor Bolton’s first production of the season at the Teatro Real in Madrid is a very special one:

Only the Sound Remains is the latest opera of Kaija Saariaho (*1952), one of today’s most acclaimed composers and the 2017 recipient of the “Fronteras del Conocimiento de la Fundación BBVA” prize for her contribution to contemporary music.

The new production of the Teatro Real and the Opéra national de Paris is starring Philippe Jaroussky and Davone Tines, who are the symbolic protagonists of the opera, and is directed by Peter Sellars.
