Salzburg Festival Blog 25 (19 Aug)

A day away from the Salzburg Festival! Herbert Lindsberger, viola player in our Mozarteum Orchestra, Doctor of Music, and renowned chamber-music player is a leading light in Kitzbuehel’s Summer Music Festival and has invited me to join an elite team of string players to play in Mendelssohn’s terrific String Symphony- ‘La Suisse’. We rehearse in the morning in violin virtuoso Benni Schmidt’s house in Aigen. For me this is the first time in years that I can walk to work!

I drive over to beautiful Kitzbuehel with Herbert, and we take a brief swim in the Schwarzsee before our warm -up rehearsal. The concert is warmly received and I particularly lasix pills online enjoy the virtuosity of Ariane Haering and Benni Schmidt in Mendelssohn’s Sextet Op.110. And what a piece!! Mendelssohn’s chamber music is full of glistening gems and this work is written on a big-scale. I recommend everyone to get to know this piece particularly the incandescent 1st movement.

With my colleagues I enjoy a post-concert invitation in a fine local hostelry and decide to drive to Munich to pay a visit to my apartment there. It does not take long and I’m happy to be in Munich even for just a few hours.
